What We Do
The purpose of the Fund is to help you save your dog!
To many of us, dogs are not “LIKE” family; they “ARE” family. With
this in mind, we want to educate and inform about a serious condition that
is life threatening to dogs; particularly large breed (deep chested) dogs.
The condition is called Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV); also known as
“torsion” or “bloat”.
This condition killed our beloved three-year old German
Shepherd. We had no idea of the risk or symptoms of this terrible
condition until it struck without warning. The objective of the fund
is to educate, inform and alert pet owners about the symptoms and treatments.
The fund provides this information via website, active campaigns, printed
material and other media. In addition, it is the intention of the
fund, when financially feasible, to provide financial aid to the dog’s
healthcare provider when GDV is indicated and the dog’s owner is not financially
able to pay for emergency, life saving care. |
